Increased pain: Classic meniscal tear symptoms include pain( usually on the inside/ back or outside/ back=posterolateral), 'catching' or locking, and intraarticular swelling. For someone middle-aged w/ mild osteoarthritis already, often times the only 'sign' of a meniscal tear without a definitive injury is increasing pain in the knee(degenerative type meniscal tear). Best of luck!
