Tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin: Depends on the trauma. If it was a bump, small accident and not due to decay/abscessed tooth and not a major trauma that should be seen by a dentist, then child dosage of tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (ibuprofen) is a good start. Under no circumstances should Aspirin be used. If the pain persists for more than 24 hours and/or swelling develops then a dentist should be consulted.
