Slippery slope: Alleviation of suffering is really important to physicians and we recognize that by doing so we may accelerate the dying process occurring in our patient. However most feel that is a different situation than administering an immediately lethal dose of medication to kill someone. The former is viewed as compassion the latter some feel is too "active". The natural process is inevitable.
