See doc, fix problem: Need to replace iron. Deficiency is common usually menstrual blood loss, at your age less likely gut blood loss; uncommon poor absorption, e.g. Celiac sprue, inadequate intake. Anemia is end stage of iron or other nutritional deficiency.

Anemia: Anemia as that caused by iron deficiency can certainly cause lightheadedness and a feeling of fainting. Heavy periods can be a cause of this as well as poor dietary intake of iron. Have her follow-up with the dr. For eval and lab work to get properly treated. Good luck.
