Lunesta (eszopiclone): Lunesta (eszopiclone) is by far the safest of the three. Ambien causes too much sleep-eating, sleep-walking, sleep talking, and even sleep driving. I have not seen any of this with lunesta (eszopiclone). Silenor is horrifically expensive for an old generic drug in low doses and is probably the closest in effect to benadryl. I don't know of anyone that has switched into mania on it, but it is a theoretical possibility.

Biggest?: I'm not sure what you mean by "biggest." strictly speaking, Ambien and Lunesta (eszopiclone) are not sedatives. They are meant to put you to sleep, not calm or relax you. Silenor is sedating and works like an antihistamine (like benadryl). None are treatments for bipolar disorder. Which is likely to be more effective for *you* depends on what kind of insomnia, and your individual responses to these meds.
