A substantial amount: Severe anxiety has been well known to potentially elevate someone's blood pressure to markedly high levels, potentially enough to cause heart failure, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), or even a ruptured vessel. While severe elevations are not extremely frequent, they are quite common, particularly in patients who already have high blood pressure and are on numerous medicines.
