See answer: The complex hormonal changes and/or a resetting of your body's thermostat that accompany the aging process and/or the declining levels of estrogen as a woman approaches menopause, are generally thought to be the underlying cause of hot flashes. That said, hot flashes and night sweats aren’t exclusive to menopause and certain foods, diseases, and medications can cause them as well. Discuss with md.
