Hard to know: It is not feasible to know the cause of the discharge without an examination. If you miss your period, do a home pregnancy test, use first morning urine and follow the instructions in the kit carefully. I wish you the best.

Several options: Brown discharge means a small amount of old blood. You can get that after sex if you have a cervical erosion, infection, or inflammation. Or if you have a thickened endometrial lining or an endometrial polyp. Or it can be from an imbalance in your hormone levels. See your doctor after your next cycle if it happens again.
