A member asked:

What does the doctor mean by acute, severe bronchoconstriction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tightened airways: Bronchoconstriction is narrowing of the air passages between the windpipe and the air sacs of the lungs, and is generally caused by swelling and spasm, which can be caused by infection, asthma, allergies, chemical irritation (smoke, smog or fumes), or a combination of factors. Acute means that a problem started suddenly or is only there for a short while (as opposed to chronic, all the time).
