Mechanical injury: By definition, brain trauma indicates that there was a physical injury to the head. This can be due to the head directly coming into physical contact with an object, or indirectly by forces being transmitted through the body (such as up the spine from hitting the body below the neck). A blast wave from an explosion can also cause brain trauma.
