Go to see your MD: You need to go to see your md to get yourself checked. There are many things can decrease your platelet level- like drugs, infections, autoimmune etc. It may have nothing to do directly with the fact that you are a smoker. I , however, strongly recommend you to quit smoking for overall health condition. If needed, your md can refer you to see a hematologist.

Modify your risk: You need to consult with your physician to rule out certain cancers that can affect the blood. At the same time you should modify any behaviors or lifestyles that may put your health at further risk (smoking, excess alcohol, drugs, high fat diet, obesity, etc).

Low platelets.: First, stop smoking. Second, visit with a Hematologist for an evaluation as your low platelet count needs to be investigated for cause, whether related to smoking or not.
