A member asked:

Blood culture: can the consumption of antibiotics cause false positives?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Opposite: Actually the opposite. Use of antibiotics before obtaining a blood culture can result in a false negative. That's why it's recommended that blood cultures be obtained before antibiotics are administered if a blood infection is suspected. That's not always possible though.
