A member asked:

After an abdominal hysterectomy, is it common that a patient has shoulder aches and bloating?

Yes: The shoulder aches are from air under the diaphragm(breathing muscle) irritating the phrenic nerve as well as aches from total muscle relaxation against the hard operating table while under anesthesia. The bloating is fluid sequestration and cellular inflammation as a reaction to the surgery itself in order to heal.
