ALS: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or lou gehrig's disease is a degeneration of upper and lower motor neurons. The diagnosis is made with an EMG and additional tests may include a lumbar puncture and an mr i of the brain and spinal cord. A second opinion with a neurologist will provide you some reassurance.
