Does aspirin cause asthma or just make it worse if it exists?

Trigger: Aspirin does no necessarily cause asthma. It is ok in most people with asthma. There is a group of people with asthma and nasal polyps, who as a syndrome show sensitivity to aspirin, having it as a trigger for asthma attack.

For some: Probably up to 10% of the patients with severe persistent asthma may have aspirin-exacerbated-respiratory disease.. Severe asthma may be triggered on this group with the common nsaids (cox 1). It is likely the genetic make-up in a person that has made him sick from taking nsaids. Thus the answer would be that NSAID per se triggers but not causes asthma which would go on even without nsaids.
