No: Brown discharge is simply old menstrual blood mixed with discharge. It typically isn't a sign of anything bad at all. Sometimes when it happens in the middle of your cycle, it can be breakthrough bleeding, which is common if and when you go off the birth control pill. Not a sign of an std. Std signs are smelly discharge, painful cuts or sores on vagina. Always use a condom though to protect!

Unlikely Dangerous!: During periods, we shed the inner lining of the uterus -- the endometrium -- if we're not pregnant. Sometimes that shed layer may not come out for a day or two ; can turn brown. So can be normal; why it changed, i can't say. If you are having low pelvic pain, the discharge is unusually foul smelling, or your have a fever, though, it could be an infection -- then see an ob/gyn! good luck!
