Are children more susceptible to meningococcemia?

Yes: Children would only be more susceptible to menigococcal infection due to the fact that they stay in more crowded environments such as kindergartens and schools than most adults would. Well known outbreaks of Meningococcal infection among college students very well support that.

Generally: But the meningococcus is a nasty bug and is no respecter of age. If you are exposed, no matter what your age, prophylactic antibiotics are indicated asap.
