A member asked:

My ccjoint needs to be fused due to massive deformity if ignored will go nonuion. what is nonuion mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bones not fused: Nonunion is when two bones try to fuse together, but don't. This can take longer than usual and be a "delayed union" or do so in a poor manner in a "malunion". The non-union is when the two pieces of bone do not form back together to form one piece of bone. This can cause pain, extra bone formation, swelling and deformity.
