Very helpful for some: While I do not recommend the use of any illegal substance, I have known a number of people with bipolar disorder and other forms of emotional distress who have reported that marijuana provides them with more of a calming experience than any medicine taken and with fewer side effects. I doubt marijuana would make bipolar disorder worse in most people, but there are other potential risks. http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/marijuana-abuse/.
