A member asked:

What is zyringomyelia formation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Syringomyelia : Syringomyelia refers to a cyst in the spinal cord. It sometimes may be associated with a tumor but most often not. Small, incidental syrinxes do not require treatment while larger ones associated with spinal cord dysfunction may require surgery. For cases associated with a chiari malformation, surgery to address the chiari malformation often leads to improvement of the syrinx.
