TMJ: The TMJ (jaw joint) is in front of your ear. Other TMJ symptoms include TMJ clicking, limited oral opening, chewing pain. If you have these symptoms, see an ora surgeon for dignosis/treatment or referral options.

Pain next to ear: The parotid gland sits right there too. It can be inflamed and infected. It would be directly tender to touching. Sometimes swollen. If so antibiotics needed and warm compresses
