please advise what is the difference between herpes simplex 1, herpes simplex 2 and gential herpes?

Different Viruses: Hsv 1 and 2 are 2 viruses in the same family. They cause oral 'cold sores' and genital herpes. Both viruses can cause genital herpes.

Most of the time HSV type 1 affects oral mucosa, and HSV type 2 genitalia. Like described above both can also be found affecting the other part of the body.
