ON hypoplasia: Optic nerve hypoplasia is a congenital condition in which the optic nerve, the nerve between the eye and the brain, does not develop properly. On appearance, the nerve is much smaller than normal. The visual effects are variable with vision anywhere from normal to totally blind.
