Please explain why vasoconstriction happens in hypoxia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not whole body: In fact more parts of the body will have vasodilation, as in organs and muscles you then resort to anaerobic respirations which causes Lactic Acid production and causes vasodilation. The skin on the other hand thee may be vasoconstriction to preserve the flow of oxygen to the essential organs.
