Stop the depo: Discontinuing your depoprovera will result in return to fertility (the ability to get pregnant). It can as little as 12 weeks after your shot for fertility to return; however, it is not uncommon for it to take longer. 12-18 months is not uncommon. You should start taking a prenatal or multivitamin containing 400mcg of Folic Acid as soon as you stop depoprovera to prevent the risk of birth defects.
