A member asked:

Are there people with brainstem glioma who survived?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, survivors exist: Brain stem tumors approach 30% of posterior fossa tumors in the pediatric age group. Biopsy is done on occasion, but if the tumor is intrinsic to the brain stem, radiation therapy is often done without biopsy. If the symptoms are minimal one can sometimes follow up with repeat imaging at intervals. The tumors are classified by location rather than histology and their behavior is unpredictable. Po.
