Simple concepts: Stroke involves blood flow to brain and if blocked, brain tissue dies causing symptoms such as unilateral paralysis, or speech deficit. Causes may include hypertension, smoking, high blood lipids, diabetes, hyperhomocysteinemia, but also, could be secondary to primary cardiac problem.
