Corneal shape : Astigmatism is a very common refractive error of the eye. It is frequently seen in conjunction with nearsightedness and farsightedness. It is mostly caused by the cornea or front clear portion of the eye being shaped like an an egg rather than shaped like a sphere (ie. Ping pong ball. It can be treated with glasses, contact lenses or laser vision correction.
