Some info here: Avoid "swamp cooler" type of air conditioner. This may promote mold growth. Most air conditioners not only cool and dry air, but filter it so it is helpful for those with pollen allergies. If the unit is not well maintained it could pose a mold risk. Air purifiers (different than air conditioners) that produce ozone should be avoided---may trigger asthma.
