A member asked:

Aortic dissection -- is this genetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly yes: There are some genetic conditions such as marfan's syndrome that can make patients more likely to develop an aneurysm of their aorta and an aortic dissection. Other people develop an aortic dissection for reasons that are not directly genetic such as atherosclerosis / hardening of the arteries. Check with your doctor.
