A member asked:

Cardiac catherisation - for atrial septal defects, can you tell me more?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes: Cadiac catheterization (right or left) is sometimes done for ASDs but only for more unusual cases. Most are seen well on a cardiac echo or cardiac MRI and a cath is not necessary unless there is worry for pulmonary hypertension or coronary artery disease etc.
