A member asked:

Could food irradiation cause cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I say "no": This has been studied massively. "nuked" food may last longer on the shelf and be less likely to carry food poisoning. It is not itself radioactive, and talk of chemicals produced in small amounts by the radiation being carcinogens ignores the fact that similar chemicals are widespread in natural foods. I'm not concerned, and since its introduction a decade ago there's been no excitement.
