Hard to know: Research on babies born after the mother smoked marijuana in pregnancy shows mixed results. Some of jamaican women even show no negative results. http://tinyurl.com/n85vrj3 nonetheless, thc remains in the baby at least as long as it remains in the mother -- depending on frequency of use, this could be months of positive urines since lase use. Thc is stored in placenta and other fat.

Varies for newborn: Initial babies urine screening would likely be negative if you are clean for a week or more, depending on amount of use. However, meconium starts forming at about 12 weeks and can trap trace amounts of the drug that remain for months after cessation of use. I have never run a blood test for it on a baby. These tests are not run on all newborns but may be required if you have an open cps case.

Will they look ?: It is not part of routine newborn testing. If CPS has you on a list or show up with druggy friends, they will look. Urine would be clean if you quit for a few weeks, but if I want to find it in baby I can find traces back as far as the 2nd trimester.
