A member asked:

Is it true when talking about lymph node size they are talking about short axis? so a node 3cm by 9mm is normal? cause short axis is less than 1cm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not true: A 3 cm node is quite large; no we do not consider short axis but take the longer axis as also relevant. So i would not sit on a 3 cm sized node and ignore it. A medical exam should be done through your doctor and close monitoring for any further growth be carried out. If there is more than one palpable nodes, a biopsy may be considered, to rule out cancer.
