Less ovulat. aft 40: Ovulation is not needed to have a regular cycle. After 40, ovulation occurs less regularly, by mid 40's it is about 4 times a year. The anovulatory bleeds may be heavier or lighter.

Perimenopause: Not every woman ovulates every month and often they aren't aware of it. This is just their normal, like some people have flat feet. After 40, it is possible that you may be entering perimenopause which is just a latin word for "around (peri)" and "menopause (permanent infertility)." some women have other symptoms like hot flashes, sleep disturbance or vaginal dryness during this time.

Ovulating: Usually, if you are not ovulating every month, you would not have periods every month. The absence of ovulation (anovulation) is known to be the most frequent cause of missed period after pregnancy. However, to answer your question - if you don't ovulate in a certain month, you will not get pregnant. That's the only implication really.
