Same as 1 side: I highly encourage you to have this discussion with your surgeon. He or she will discuss the risks and benefits (if they do not--request it). The risks for mastectomy depend on the type of mastectomy and if reconstruction is involved. In general for all surgeries, the risks are bleeding, infection, pain and possible lymphedema. For more specifics, call your surgeon.
