VITROUS DETACHMENT:: Talk to the child's pediatrician. Your child needs to be referred to a pediatric ophthalmolotist. This is not a easy case to answer here.

If it isn't broken, : .... Don't need to fix it. A posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) is not a disease or even something that typically causes any problems other than the occasional floater. So the correct answer is "none". Why would you consider doing anything? A complete eye exam will determine if the PVD is associated with retinal tears, breaks or holes or other problems.

Unusual case: Vitreous detachment is very rare in this age group and usually only comes about from pathology of the eye or trauma. Vitreous detachment usually starts in middle age. There is no "treatment" for this as it is a natural progression in the eye. If this is occurring in a 14 year old, then it must be investigated by an ophthalmologist to rule out concurrent disease.
