Labs and lip biopsy: There are lab tests that can help diagnose Sjögren's syndrome. Most often there are specific autoantibodies in the blood (anti-SSA and/or anti-SSB).There are other less specific blood tests that can show abnormal inflammation, rheumatoid factor, low white blood cell counts, high amylase, &/or high IgG antibodies. Lip biopsy showing immune cells attacking saliva glands are most helpful in diagnosis.
