Depends: The toxicity varies from one type of paint to another.Oil based paints are more toxic than latex.Much of the paints used today have moved to the less toxic latex varieties which dominate the consumer market. Most parents do not need to worry about having a kid in the house when they paint a room, or to be in it before all the odor is gone. Some kids with asthma could have symptoms from the fumes.
