A member asked:

Is a herniated disk associated with migraines and should i be seen in er?

Not necessarily.: They can occur together. If its severe enough, then go to an er, otherwise your pcp should be able to treat both these conditions or refer to a neurologist ( for migraines) and an orthopod for the herniated disc. Good luck.

Contact Family Doc: No. I am not sure what they would do for you in the er. You have a chronic problem and need to develop treatment plans for these bad days. It is always best to work with your primary care physician to get this kind of treatment in place. And, acutely, you can contact or page your family doctor to know what to do for you today.

Cervicogenic Pain: Neck pain from herniated disc can lead to a viscous cycle of events. May lead to radiating pain and some headaches, but will not be the sole cause of the headaches. I always stress this, er docs will stabilize your pain and give you something to make you feel better, but will not want to be involved in your long term care. Discuss this with your regular physician.
