A member asked:

Can a moderate dose of caffeine (coffee) cause breathing problems by constricting your sinus passages?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coffee: Coffee is a vasoconstrictor, if anything, it should decrease congestion, which it does not do usually for nasal congestion. My point is, it does not cause nasal congestion. On the other hand, vasomotor rhinitis can occur from hot drinks, and it is related to the temperature of the food/drink. Same wil happen with soup.
