Yes: During pregnancy there are lots of growth factor which are present. As such, diabetic changes in the eyes can develop during pregnancy and can get worse during pregnancy. It is important if you are diabetic, to have your eyes checked in the first, second, and third trimester. This will insure that if there are changes, they can be treat right away to prevent vision loss.

Definitely: You need to see your eye doctor if your are a know diabetic who is now pregnant or if you develop gestational diabetes. If you have new or worse ocular symptoms (blurring, floaters, flashes, etc.), you must have an examination urgently.
