Dementia: Progressive supranuclear palsy is a degeneration of brain cells that leads to difficulty walking, short-term memory loss and an inability to look up. It can be confused with alzheimer's disease or parkinson's disease.

Neurologists think about these other potential diagnoses (differential): Parkinson's disease, Corticobasal Ganglionic Degeneration (another Parkinsonian type disorder), Multiple System Atrophy (Parkinsonian disorder), and strokes or tumors involving the midbrain. Some others that produce similar symptoms, Wilson Disease, Niemann-Pick, Whipple Disease to name a few. Neurology input is necessary
