Upper GI Bleeding: This needs attention, throwing up blood is never normal. Possible causes include an ulcer, gastritis, esophagitis and tumors. He needs to see a doc asap. Usually this requires an upper endoscopy. Emergency room visit if he is throwing up lots of blood or feeling lightheaded or having black tarry bms. He should avoid aspirin, advil, alleve, ibuprofen, & alcohol as they all can increase bleeding
