Same thing: Methylenedioxymethamphetamine is often abbreviated mdma, so this is shorthand for the scientific name of the drug. On the street it is also called "ecstasy" or "e" or "molly." as the long chemical name shows, it is a relative of methamphetamine, with many similar properties but a more "emotional" and "relational" experience. It is an illegal recreational drug in the us.
