No skeletal mets: Bone scan negative for metastases means no abnormal areas of uptake are seen in skeleton. This test does not exclude metastases to other organs of body. In order for bone metastases to be visualized, the patient's skeleton has to react to tumor or be bone forming tumor.

Negative scan...: This means that if you have a primary tumor, there is no evidence on bone scan that it has spread to bones. It is important to note that technetium bone scan is best to look for osteoblastic metastases. Some tumors can cause osteoblastic lesions whereas others are more likely to cause lytic lesions. Purely lytic lesions may not show up well on bone scan but are better seen on pet scan.
