Cognitive impairment: Impairment in thinking in potentially multiple areas. If the problem is chronic and persistent it may be a form of dementia. Patients with psychotic disorders can have cognitive symptoms in which their thinking is unclear or distorted. Patient with traumatic brain injury as well may have significant difficulty in their thinking and processing of information.
