I took plan b about an hour after the condom broke, however, i believe i was around ovulation time. does this make a difference in its effectiveness?

Yes: If you aren't ovulating then you can't get pregnant from unprotected sex. If you ovulated before condom broke, then Plan B can't help. Sperm lives for up to 3 days, so it's always a good idea if you don't want to be pregnant to take Plan B asap. If taken right away it prevents pregnancy up to 85% of time.
