A member asked:

My lips are really rough often chapped and they peel after exfoliating too much.also plumpier/bigger?are they damaged?how to heal fast other than wait

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Protect the lips: Lips are "mucus membranes", which are sensitive and not "skin". Think of exfoliating the lips as causing a sunburn on the lips. They get damaged, and with repeated damage, may turn into that "weathered" appearance one might see in the lips of a 50 year-old life-long farmer or beach guy... Which might not be the "look" one is trying for. It really is best not to mess around with one's natural lips.
