What is the cause of severely painful menstrual periods in women with that problem?

Irritated uterus: I would say that the most common cause of painful menses is an irritated uterus that spasms...This can be secondary to getting older; to a thickening called adenomyosis; or to other pathology. I would always reccomend follow-up with your gyn and see if he reccomended meds and or surgery like laparoscopy.
